“Translate” the following primary source documents, IYOW (In Your Own Words). Try your best not to use the same vocabulary as the original document. The best responses will speak about the greater historical context and/or significance of the quote. Notice the color-matching below. You are NOT required to color-code!
 
SAMPLE:
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.” 

SAMPLE TRANSLATION:
The citizens of the United States were trying to correct the problems the country experienced under the first constitution, called the ‘Articles of Confederation’. They wanted a better and more powerful central/federal/national government that would have the ability to oversee the court system, keep down rebellions (like Shays’), defend against invaders (or pirates), benefit the entire country with the funding of roads, bridges, etc., and make sure that the government protects the freedoms of both current citizens and all future generations. In order to make this happen, we the people announce the creation of this (new) Constitution.
